Bling Bling

Nyt kun mekko on jo hankittuna olen alkanut pikkuhiljaa miettimään millaisia koruja haluaisin sen kanssa käyttää. Supertylsän sunnuntain kunniaksi olenkin tänään kuluttanut liikaa aikaa selaamalla Etsyä ja tullut siihen tulokseen, että on morsiamen oikeus hankkia itselleen hieman bling blingiä!

Alla olevasta kuvakollaasiin olen kerännyt niitä koruja, joita voisin kuvitella käyttäväni hääpäivänä.

//Now that I've got a dress I'm starting to think about jewelry to go with it. I'm having a super lazy Sunday and I've spent waaaay too much time an appropriate amount of time browsing Etsy. I've come to the conclusion that it's a bride's right to get herself some bling! 

I've collected some of my favorites into the collage below. //

Kuten kuvista voi päätellä, aika klassisella linjalla mennään. Vapaa-aikanani tykkään ehkä leikitellä koruilla enemmän (silloin kun käytän niitä), mutta hääpäivänä on paras mennä varmalla linjalla ettei parin kymmenen vuoden päästä hääkuvia katsellessa tarvitse miettiä, että mitäs ihmettä sitä olikaan ajatellut!

Kuvan vyön olenkin jo itselleni tilannut ja jännityksellä odottelen jo sen saapumista. Vaikka kuvan korvakorut ovatkin täy-del-li-set niin luultavasti suuntaan silti Bijou Brigitteen, josta olen vastaavanlaisia koruja häitä varten aikasemmin hakenutkin. Hiuskampaa taas ajattelin käyttäväni vain kirkossa hunnun kanssa Lauren Conradin tapaan. Käsikorusormushärpäkkeen tilaaminen Etsystä kutkuttaa kovasti sillä mitään isoa rannekorua en halua ja M-kirjaimella varustettu hopeinen (ei kultainen kuten kuvassa) koru olisi kyllä oikein kiva. Sukkanauhat tilaan Ninka-nettikaupasta, jonne aion laitta vielä tilausta koristeidenkin osalta. Ihan kiva idea, että paketissa sukanauhoja kaksi kappaletta, toinen heitettäväksi ja toinen pidettäväksi!

//As you can see, classy is the way to go. Normally I like to be a little more adventurous with my jewelry (that is when I wear it) but I think it's smart to take it a bit safer on your wedding day just so you don't need to look at the pictures twenty years from now and think what the hell was I thinking! 

I have already ordered the sash and I'm anxiously waiting for it to arrive. Although the earrings are pure per-fec-tion I think I'm just gonna buy a similar pair from a place I buy my "festive" jewelry from. The hair comb would go nicely with a veil in the style of Lauren Conrad and I'd only wear it during the ceremony. The ring bracelet thingy I'm probably gonna buy since I wanna wear a bracelet but not a chunky one and I like the I idea of have a little heart and a letter M on it. The garter package is a nice idea since there are two garters, one for the groom to toss to the single men and one to keep!//

Ordering Decorations

Eilen illalla päätin tehdä taas useamman korsitetilauksen, koska haluan saada hankinnat tehtyä niin pian kuin mahdollista. Loppuvuodesta on tulossa eeeeerittäin kiireinen töiden, yliopiston sekä vaihto- ja hääasioiden puolesta.

Pom pomit olivat koristehankintalistallani ehdoton must! Löysin niitä ebay:stä hyvän kokoisina ja värisinä edullisempaan hintaan kuin Suomen nettikaupoista. Tilasin eri kokoisia pom pomeja 30 kpl vaaleanpunaisia ja 30 kpl norsunluun värisiä.

//Last night I decided to do some decoration orders because I want to get them done as soon as possible. The rest of the year is going to be crazy busy because of work, uni, exchange preparations and wedding stuff. 

The pom poms were a must on my to-buy list for the wedding! I found the best (and the cheapest) ones from ebay (no real surprise there). I got them in different sizes, 30 in pink and 30 in ivory. //

Juhlacenteristä tilasin 'Just Married' -bannerin, 'She's Mine' -kenkätarran, vaaleanpunaisia ja valkoisia ilmapalloja ja sormenjälkipuun eräänlaiseksi vieraskirjaksi. Perinteisen riisinheiton (jota ei varmaan saa enää edes tehdä?) sijaan vieraamme tulevat päästämään ilmaan heliumilla täytettyjä ilmapalloja, joten ilmapalloja tilasin runsaasti. Niillä voisi koristella myös esimerkiksi juhlapaikan sisääntulon. Sormenjälkipuusta taas jää kiva muisto hääpäivästä ja julisteen voi myöhemmin kehystää tauluksi asuntomme seinälle.

//'Just Married' banner, 'She's Mine' shoe sticker, red and white balloons and the fingerprint tree from Juhla Center. In stead of traditional rice throwing (which I think you're not even allowed to do anymore because the birds will eat the rice and die) our guests are gonna set free balloons so I ordered a lot of them. The fingerprint tree we can get framed and hang as a poster in our apartment after the wedding.//

Mielestäni perinteiset hääkakun päälläolevat ihmishahmot ovat hieman mauttomia, mutta ihaistuin hääkakun päälle laitettavaan minikokoiseen 'Just Married' -banneriin, jonka löysin Decora House:sta. Siis kuinka söpö! Raidallisia pillejä ja pusseja tilasin herkku ja juoma-buffettiin teemavärissä, tietenkin.

//In my opinion, the traditional human figures on top of a wedding cake are a bit tacky but I fell in love with a 'Just Married' mini-banner. How cute! I also ordered striped straws and mini-bags for the candy buffet from Decora House.

Näyttääkö hyvältä vai ällösöpöltä? Meneeköhän mulla nyt tuon vaaleanpunaisen kanssa vähän överiksi? M on kyllä hyväksynyt kaiken, mutta toisaalta en voi olla varma onko hän vain nyökytellyt jalkapallopelin tahdissa vai oikeasti vastaillut kysymyksiini...

//Do these look good or overly cute? Not sure if I'm overdoing it with the pink or not, what do you think? M has approved everything although I cannot be sure if he's just nodding to his football game or really answering to my questions...

Look What the Mailman Brought!

Mekko ja kukat saapuivat viime viikolla. Kukkia olinkin jo osannut odottaa, mutta mekko saapui yllättävän nopeasti, sillä sen oli luvattu saapuvan joskus syyskuun puolen välin jälkeen. Molemmissa tapauksissa erittäin nopeaa palvelua!

Kukat noudimme M:n kanssa yhdessä postista ja odotimme kahta iiiiisoa pakettia, mutta ne olikin näppärästi pakattu kahteen mikron kokoiseen höyhenen kevyeen postipakettiin ja ajattelin niitä hakiessamme, että nyt mua on kyllä huijattu. Siellä on 6x24 kukan sijaan 24 kukkaa tai jotain. Kiikutimme paketit ullakolle säilöön häitä varten ja mies ihmetteli kovasti miksi paketit täytyy avata ja pakettien sisältö tarkistaa kun ovat nyt niin nätisti paketissa. Miehen logiikka! Otin yhden kimpun sisälle, jotta voin mallailla sitä erilaisiin pulloihin ja jotta voin tarvittaessa tarkistaa niiden värin muita koristeita mietittäessä.

// The dress and the flowers arrived last week. I was expecting the flowers but the dress arrived surprisingly fast considering I was told it would be shipped much later this month. Fast and good service in both cases!

We picked up the flowers with M from the post office and were expecting to pick up two large packages but we got were two small feather light boxes about the size of a microwave oven. I was thinking it must be a mistake or were being ripped off! That there has got to be 24 flowers instead of the 6x24 that I ordered. We carried the boxes to our storage space in the attic and M was baffled as to why we had to open the boxes to check the contents when they were so neatly packed. Men! I took one bouquet with me to our apartment just so I could try and see what they look like in different kinds of bottles and so that I can check they're color later when picking up other decorations for the wedding.//

Mekko saapui pari päivää myöhemmin ja kun lähetti toi sen ovelle en voinut muuta kuin repiä paketin auki ja yrittää sovittaa sitä itsekseni. Ei ollenkaan niin helppoa kuin luulisi! Hiki virtasi jo ensimmäisen viiden minuutin jälkeen ja kun olin saanut nyöritettyä mekon kiinni parhaani mukaan (löysälle jäi!) olin jo ihan uuvuksissa ja punainen kuin paloauto. Ette varmaan ylläty, että nämä kuvat eivät ilmesty tänne? Hah. Napsaisin muutaman kuvan mekosta roikkumassa hengarissa, jotta voisin jakaa ne tänne.

//The dress arrived a few days later and when I got it I couldn't help ripping the package open and trying it on by myself. Huge mistake, it's not as easy as you'd think! I started sweating after the first five minutes and when I finally got it laced up the best that I could (which was not tight enough!) I was exhausted and as red as a lobster. I bet you're not surprised that I'm not sharing the pictures I took then? Hah. I snapped a few pics later show that I could show you what the dress actually looks like.//

Kokeilin pukua myöhemmin ystäväni kanssa ja vaikka se onkin ihana on siinä muutama "mutta". Yläosan rypytys on tikattu muutamasta kohtaa huonosti ja alaosa ei täysin vastaa tilaamani mekon kuvan alaosaa vaan se on yksinkertaisemmin tehty eikä mielestäni tarpeeksi muhkea. Vien mekon äitini luo näytille ensi viikolla ja hän saa silloin antaa mekolle viimeisen tuomionsa. Äitini on aikaisemmalta koulutukseltaan ompelija ja jos hän sanoo voivansa korjata rypytyksen haittaavat tikkaukset ja lisätä helmaan hieman lisää sifonkia niin silloin pidän mekon. Kävimme ystäväni kanssa kokeilemassa parissa liikkeessä samantyylisiä mekkoja, mutta ne eivät mielestämme olleet yhtä hyviä kuin tämä, joten se on vieläkin ykkösvalintani.

//I tried the dress on later with the help of my friend and it is absolutely lovely buuut with a few "buts". There are a few stitches on the top part that are not properly placed and done badly and the bottom part is not as full as in the picture on ebay and looks a little cheap. I'm taking the dress to my mom's next week and she gets to say whether or not I should keep the dress. If she says shes able to fix the stitching and add a little chiffon to the bottom I'm going to keep the dress. After I got the dress I actually went and tried on a couple of dresses similar to this one but they weren't as good as this so it remains my number one choice.//

Peony Love

Rakastan pioneita. Ne on ihania! Jos meillä olisi rajaton budjetti niin haluaisin ehdottomasti häihimme aitoja pioneita. Paljon ja joka paikkaan. Muhkeita, isoja, vaaleanpunaisia pionikumppuja. Mutta kun se budjetti ei ole rajaton eikä elokuu käsittääkseni ole enää suurinta pionisesonkia.

// I love peonies. They're just lovely! If we had a limitless budget, I'd definitely want real peonies at our wedding. Lots and lots of them. Cushiony, big, light pink peony bouquets. But the budget IS limited and from what I understand the peony season is pretty much over by August (at least in Finland).//

Pionipakkomielteeni on saanut minusta niin suuren vallan, että viime viikolla päädyin tilaamaan (ebay-addiktioni siivittämänä) tekopionikimppuja Internetin ihmeellisestä maailmasta. Tilaamissani kimpuissa on kuusi kukkaa per kimppu ja tilasin niitä yhteensä 24. Kukat saavat toimia häissä pöytäkoristeina ja jos mahdollista, aion jakaa kukat ehkä neljän kukan kimppuihin. Maljakkoina tulevat luultavasti toimimaan Lidlin lasiset tuoremehupullot. Täytyy kokeilla, miten kukat istuvat niihin.

//My huge peony obsession (with the help of my Ebay addiction) took over and I ended up ordering artificial peony bouquets from the wonderland that is called Internet. The ones that I ordered have six flowers per bouquet and orderd 24 bouquets. The flowers are going to be used as centerpieces and if possible, I'm going to divide them into bouquets of four.We're going to use old bottles as vases if the flowers sit in them nicely.//

Kukat Ebay:stä

Kyllähän ne tekokukilta näyttävät, mutta parempien (aitojen) puutteessa saavat riittää! Itse olen ainakin tyytyväinen, jos kukat todella ovat tämän näköisiä. Niiden pitäisi saapua perille jo myöhemmin tällä viikolla.

//I mean, they do look artificial but in lack of better (real!) ones they're going to have to do! I'm happy as long as the flowers actually look as promised. They should arrive later this week.//

The Dress?

Kuten edellisessä postauksessa jo ohimennen mainitsin niin päädyin tilaamaan halpamekon Kiinasta. Mekkoja liikkeissä ja netissä katseltuani tulin siihen tulokseen, että kokeilen tilata halvan kopiomekon Kiinasta, pidän sormet ristissä ja peukalot pystyssä ja toivon, että se on hyvä ja sopiva.

Kuvan perusteella tilaamani mekko on enemmän kuin täydellinen ja myyjä oli saanut ostajilta hyvää palautetta, joten ikuisena optimistina elättelen toivoa siitä, että mekko vastaa odotuksia. Häihin on kuitenkin aikaa ja jos mekko jostain syystä ei olekaan hyvä voi sen aina yrittää myydä eteenpäin tai tyytyä (aika pieneen) rahalliseen tappioon ja marssia mekkokaupoille joko Suomessa tai sitten Etelä-Koreassa. Mies teettää puvun joka tapauksessa Koreassa, joten en sulje pois itselleni puvun teettämistä sielläkään pois kuvioista.

//As I mentioned in the previous post, I ended up ordering a cheap dress from China. After seeing dresses at different shops and online stores (the prices!), I came to the conclusion that I'd order a cheap copy gown from China and keep my fingers crossed.

The dress that I bought looks more than perfect in the pictures and the seller had received good feedback from the customers. And the optimistic person that I am, I'm now wishing that the dress will meet my expectations. If the dress for some reason isn't as good as  I hoped it would be there is still time to resell it or settle for the (minor) financial loss and march to an actual store either in Finland or in South Korea. The hubby is having his suit tailor-made in Korea so it would not be a strange idea to have my dress made there either.//

Tilaamani mekko / mahdollinen vyö

Tällä kuitenkin lähdetään ja katsotaan mitä tulee! Mekon tilasin omilla mitoillani ja ivory-värisenä. Laitan vielä kuvaa ja juttua mekosta kun se saapuu syyskuun puolella. En ole ihan varma kuuluuko hääpuvun kanssa kuvassa oleva vyö mekkoon mukaan sillä osassa kuvista sitä ei ollut lainkaan. Joka tapauksessa ajattelin mekon kanssa ympäriasti kirjailtua vyötä ja löysinkin jo sopivan, mistäs muualtakaan kuin Ebay:stä! Tämä alkaa muistuttaa jo sairautta, help me!

//This is what I'm going with for now and we'll see what happens! I ordered the dress with my measurements in ivory. I'll put up a picture of it when in arrives in September. I'm not sure if the belt (on the left) comes with the dress because it was in some pictures and in others not. In any case, I wasn't planning on using it because I want a sash that has beading all-around and found the perfect one, where else than on Ebay! My Ebay-addiction is really starting to become a disease, help me!//
